I thought I reviewed this before but apparently not. It seems to be Appleton's little secret place. The buffet at lunch is the best food around. It isnt a huge selection but it's all great food. It's all fresh made, from scratch. Desserts are amazing. I love this place. You can't beat the price. It always seems to be fairly empty, which is nice as a customer, but I feel the place deserves to get more business. I've come once for dinner, I can't exactly remember what I got, but it was very filling and taste was amazing. Can't say anything negative about the place. I'd highly suggest hitting the buffet.

The food at Java Warung is excellent. Simple as that. They excel at Indonesian street food such as Gado Gado, which is a big bunch of tase ingredients that will delight your taste buds. Quite a few entrees are available in vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free variations. I've come here several times now, and I've tried something different every time. Every meal had a "stick to your ribs" home-style feel to it. The restaurant is housed in an old hamburger joint, Hardee's, I think. The place is clean, but old-looking. Not bad, but not top-notch, either. That said, I plan to return to this place soon. Really good food!

This place is a hidden gem that locals and visitors should not miss. People tend to think that the southeastern cuisines are too spicy for their taste. Fear not. And this is why. The restaurant offers both Malaysian and Indonesian food. The food cultures from both countries are heavily influenced by Portuguese, Spanish, British, Dutch and Indian and southern Chinese. If you are not sure whether you like it or not, try their lunch buffet first. The buffet gives you the opportunity to sample some of the very traditional foods from different Asian countries. The service is good and the price is wonderful. I had Indonesian Nasi kuning with yellow rice. It is served with 4-5 chef's choice mini entrees (mostly meats such as chicken, beef, meatballs, and fritters) for $12. And I was only able to finish half of it.

Probably the best dinner food and experience we've had in the Fox Cities area. The establishment was easy to locate and there were a lot of parking. We were greeted right away and shown to our seats. We came on a Sunday therefore they were not serving the buffet. Java Warung offered a lot of gluten free items. Our server were extremely helpful and attentive. She helped us navigate through the menu and offered her recommendations. The simple soup served as an appetizer prior to our meal was so flavorful. It tastes like Lao curry noodles; kapoon just without the noodles. We gobbled it up even in summer weather. When our meals came out, it was so fragrant of South East Asia. My chicken, which was half a whole chicken, was flavored with shrimp paste, lemongrass, and other herbs. It was tender, fall off the bone, served over rice. My husband's lamb curry was the better order. It didn't take long for him finish his meal and he had some of mine as well. My mouth is drooling just thinking about this meal. We can't wait to return as this was as good as it gets. It's such comforting homemade meal. As many meat options as they offered, there are a lot of healthy vegetarian options as well. A must try for anyone who is looking for a unique eat.

Outstanding. I can't believe Appleton Wisconsin gets this gem and the state of Minnesota can't produce something similar. Embarrassing. I haven't had roti this good since I visited Singapore. The beef rendang literally melts in your mouth. The spice level is on point - enough heat to perk you up but not overwhelming. I enjoyed the egg rolls and lumpia. They came with 2 different kinds of dipping sauce. I was so sad to see the restaurant empty during dinner hours. The food quality (and quantity!!!) is so amazing that people with an appreciation for SE Asian cuisine need to give this place some business. I would be so sad if they closed. Next time I'm in town for business, I'll be sure to give this restaurant as much of my per diem as possible!
